Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling

“Marriage is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship. It’s not about how much love you have in the beginning, but how much love you build until the end.”

Dating is fun, but combining two adult lives can be challenging. Early-stage counseling can resolve communication issues and ease the transition. Everyone brings emotional baggage from past relationships, and therapy provides a safe space to unpack and release unhelpful patterns. It helps deepen your bond, improve your relationship, and creates a roadmap for a successful future.

When To Come In For Couples Counseling

Building A Strong Foundation

Dating is fun, but combining two adult lives can be challenging. Counseling in the dating phase can resolve communication issues and ease the transition. Everyone brings emotional baggage from past relationships, and therapy provides a safe space to unpack and release unhelpful patterns. It deepens your bond, improves your relationship, and creates a roadmap for a successful future.

Life Transitions

Life changes, such as moving, job loss, having a baby, recovering from an illness, becoming an empty nester, retirement, or caring for aging parents, can strain relationships. Therapy can help you navigate these transitions together.

Crisis

If your relationship feels like it’s falling apart, you are in a state of crisis. Issues like affairs, abuse, addictions, separations, emotional blackmail, or financial dishonesty are serious threats. Counseling can help address these challenges.

Reconnection

Strong relationships can lose their emotional connection over time. Couples counseling is not just for relationships in trouble, it can also strengthen healthy ones. It promotes intimacy, connection, and problem-solving. It can bring back the spark and the sizzle.

How Can Couples Counseling Help?

Relationship Skills

Most people learn about how to be in a relationship from watching the people around them. We often pick up what we know from family, friends, media, or books, but we don’t really know what we’re doing. Couples counseling teaches essential skills for a successful relationship, such as understanding and communicating your needs, and listening to and respecting your partner’s needs and feelings. Anyone who is open and willing can learn these skills and create lasting changes in their relationship.

Build a strong, happy, healthy and loving relationship

At Worth Relating we emphasize the importance of not blaming either partner in a relationship experiencing conflict. Blame often leads to defensiveness and resentment, which can obstruct the path to resolving underlying issues. Instead, your therapist will encourage you to focus on understanding each other’s perspectives and collaboratively finding solutions.

Couples counseling will help you:

Our Therapy Process

The first step is to schedule an appointment. You can make an appointment online or by calling us at (704) 709-5545.

We want you to feel great about choosing Worth Relating for your therapy needs. To that end, we are happy to provide a free 15-minute consultation to all new clients. During this call, you can let us know a little bit about yourself and the issues you are looking for help with. You can also ask any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, insurance, payment, and availability. Based on the information you provide, we will pair you with a therapist that we believe will be the best fit for you and your current struggles.

Your initial evaluation session provides an opportunity for you to build rapport with the therapist and provide them with some background about yourself and the reasons you are seeking counseling. In addition, they will be able to answer your questions regarding services, confidentiality, and what to expect in therapy. With your best interests in mind, you will decide together what kind of treatment will benefit you the most.

The number and frequency of sessions are determined by the specific issues you want to address with your partner. Generally, people begin with 50-minute sessions once a week.

Call (704) 709-5545 and speak to any of our office staff to learn more or schedule an appointment.
